Black Woman's Trauma Workshop

February 9th from 2 pm to 6 pm at 935 W. 175th Street, Homewood, Illinois 60409

In this workshop, we will begin to redefine the Queen within us. There is a continued need for understanding strategies towards thriving and healing of trauma among black women. In this workshop, we will the foundation of our trauma is not just the personal trauma we have experience. We will explore the consistency of being laden with stereotypical characteristics that diminish our value and worth, emphasizing being loud, brash, ghetto, defiant and sexually promiscuous. There is a continued need for understanding strategies towards thriving and healing of trauma amongst Black women. We will walk away with the following:

 

1.     Recognizing the impact of trauma

2.     Resignation to victimization and marginalization

3.     Creating a space for support and uplift

4.     Addressing community internalization of external views of blackness and womanhood

5.     Defining methods to enact community responsibly for black women
